NATIONAL TOUR — Choreography and direction: Laura MacÃas & Gavin De Paor
Internationally accliamed principal guest dancer Ryoko Yagyu portrays an innocent tourist who embarks upon a journey of enlightenment through the hallways of a mysterious museum. Making her way from room to room she discovers works of the likes of Picasso, Botero and Leonardo in a whole new way as the paintings and sculptures take on a life of their own.
The simbols, shadows, images, lights, and forms translate into human weaknesses: ego, rage, hunger, excesses, neglect, loss and the desire for the wealth and materials of others. As the visit progresses our tourist is drawn into this misterious world, falling into the waiting arms of the 7 Deadly Sins...

The Nutcracker is a fairy tale-ballet in two acts and three scenes of Russian composer Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840-1893), who put music to the adaptation that Alexander Dumas (the father) did the story The Nutcracker and the Mouse King , Ernest Hoffmann.
The show that is now presented within the XXIX Season of Opera and Ballet is a production of the Teatre Principal de Palma, with direction and choreography by Laura Macias and Gavin de Paor. With the participation of dancers from leading European theaters and the Symphony Orchestra of the Balearic Islands 'Ciutat de Palma'.

Opera Season

The Teatre Principal has a proud history of Opera, this being the XXX Opera Season. Since 2013 the Teatre Principal has incorporated professional dancers from the ballet productions into the Operas which have dance or ballet scenes written in their original scripts. This has brought a wonderful professional authenticity to the ballet scenes adding to an already hugely successful opera history at the theatre.

A ballet conceived by Léonide Massine with music by Ottorino Respighi (based on piano pieces by Gioachino Rossini) The scene is set in France in 1860. A world-famous toymaker has created exquisite dancing dolls in his magic toyshop. The shop opens and throughout the day the toymaker receives a steady stream of visitors. Things get complicated when the toymakers prized possessions – two dancing can-can dolls – are to be sold off seperately.
But the other toys magically coming to life during the night, come to the rescue of our lead couple. The plan is far from perfect and pandemonium ensues…
