Class Description — Boys, Duet & Repertoire

The promotion and development of male ballet technique is one of the challenges which we are proud to take on at Pasodos Dance Centre. Specific boys techniques are taught focusing on jumps, turns and core strength. Male students from other dance schools are welcome to join in and use boys ballet as a suplementary class to their regular training.

Duet or Pas de Deux is one of the most important and enjoyable classes advanced students in our full time training program. Partner work follows a progression starting with simple balances, including a turning or pirouette section and culminates with a big jump and lift section. Boys gain upper and lower body strength as well as an awareness of dancing with a partner. Girls gain invaluable strength and technique on pointe and develop other traits such as coordination, trust and balance.
For the budding dancer or apprentice this high level class is fundamental for a professional future in the dance world. Depending upon the time of year the repertoire learned varies from pure classical works such as The Nutcracker, Giselle or Swan Lake through to modern works and new choreographies.
